how the process Goes:
I. book your initial consultation.
When you reach out to me, I will send back a booking link to book your initial Zoom consultation. This is where we get to know each other, and find out if we're a good fit. I'll answer any lingering questions you may have, and get to know you and your vision for your session. If all goes well and you'd like to move forward, you'll pay your session fee and reserve your date!
II. the planning begins.
Once your date is booked, you'll get some "homework" from me. Don't worry, it's the fun kind! I'll send you my Style & Prep Guide, A Pinterest Board, A Questionnaire, a link to my Studio Wardrobe, and we'll book your Zoom Design Consultation. This is where we plan your shoot, decide what you're going to wear, and make sure you're prepped and ready to go for your session!
III. Photoshoot & Ordering Session.
Once shoot day arrives, all you have to do is show up and I'll take care of the rest. I provide snacks and water... hydration is key! The photo portion typically takes 1-3 hours, remember, I won't rush you!
After that, you get to go have a lunch break. Come back in about an hour, and we'll go through all your images, and decide what you'd like to order.

My pricing is set on a per-image basis, so what you spend is entirely up to you and how many images you end up loving. Your session fee is due up front to book your date, but you don't have to commit to a specific price point until you see your portraits at your reveal and ordering session. The majority of my clients find the most value in my portrait collections.

What if I'm not photogenic, or don't know how to pose?
How do your payment plans work?
Payment plans are completely interest-free. 50% of your order is due up front, and then we'll set up a customized payment schedule to fit your needs. The $700 session fee must be paid in full before reserving a session date, and no products will be ordered or delivered until the final payment is received. Klarna and Affirm are also available as options if you'd like to receive your final products faster.
Can I just get the digitals?

What if I need to reschedule?
I get it, emergencies happen to all of us. Your session fee is transferable to a new date one time. If you need to reschedule a 2nd time, there will be a $500 reschedule fee, which forfeits your image credit. In the case of cancellation, with at least 48 hours' notice, your session fee is fully refundable. With less than 48 hours' notice, your session fee is non-refundable, and the image credit will be forfeited and converted into a cancellation fee.

Can I bring someone?
This will be a long answer, and the short answer is that it depends on the circumstance. My sessions are geared toward individual, one-on-one experiences. If you'd like to bring a female friend to feel comfortable, you are welcome to, as long as they don't interfere with the shoot. Be warned, my studio is very tiny, so it may be squishy in there. For this reason, I don't advise it. Sometimes, friends come in the beginning to make sure all is well, and then head off once the shoot gets going. For my own safety, I don't allow men inside the studio space. They are fine to drop you off, but they won't be allowed inside the secured access building. This is a firm policy. If you'd like to have someone with you during the ordering session, it's usually best if they meet you at the Studio after the photo portion is complete. Just make sure they are aware of the price investment beforehand so there are no surprises or awkward conversations. If you'd like a male partner to be present for the ordering session, we can schedule it via Zoom. If you'd like to be photographed with someone, this must be arranged with me beforehand, and I typically recommend they come towards the end of the shoot for spacial reasons.
When do photoshoots happen and how long will it take?
My shoot days are Saturdays. (Fridays may be available in certain situations. Let me know in your consultation if you think you'll need one.) Start time is 10:00am. Typically, you can expect to spend about 6 hours total at the studio. This includes the photo portion, an hour lunch break, and your reveal and ordering session. I only book one client per day, so you won't be rushed to finish by a certain time.

Alena did a great job prepping me with what to bring and how to ‘prep’ myself in terms of hair, face, etc. The studio is a lovely little space and I loved the personalized message board.
I was definitely a little nervous to start - I’m certainly not a model and don’t know what to do with my body and face when I’m having my picture taken. But at the end of the shoot I felt very comfortable! (And impressed at the positions that professional models have to hold lol) I loved the photos! I felt a little overwhelmed - in a good way, it’s really special to be able to see so many gorgeous photos of yourself.
Usually I make goofy faces in pictures or just a really big smile. I’ve always felt like my “serious” or “sexy” face looked dumb, so I was worried how the non-smiling photos were going to turn out. But they turned out really lovely and definitely gave me a little boost of confidence.
Don’t be nervous about what to do with your body/face/hands! Alena knows what she’s doing and how to help you position yourself in space to capture a great shot. Some poses definitely felt goofy and exaggerated in the moment (and we laughed about it!) but they yielded beautiful pictures. Even though I know the kind of amazing work that Alena creates, I just never thought that pictures of me would come out so lovely!
