Thread Hunter Seattle
A while back, I was shopping in Ballard, my favorite neighborhood in Seattle, just blocks away from my Studio. There were a few clothing racks outside of a secondhand & vintage clothing store that caught my attention because there were some really cool pieces, so I had to go inside to see what else was in the store. Back then, it was still just a pop-up location, but I was blown away by the unique and awesome selections available, and all at amazing prices. I picked out several awesome things for my Studio Wardrobe and personal closet. While checking out, I started chatting with the owner, and mentioned that I'm a photographer and would definitely be back to grab some more things for my Studio Wardrobe. She took one of my cards, and I instantly followed the store, Thread Hunter, on Instagram.
Fast forward a little while later, the owner, Elissa, had been sending me updates when she got anything she thought would be a great fit for my Studio Wardrobe (she was always right) and I became a regular customer. I've gotten so many great pieces that I love. I was elated when Thread Hunter got a permanent location in the Ballard neighborhood. The store is such a cool space, and she even turned the back room into an incredible Speak Easy (complete with a password entry, and drinks!) which holds the coolest clothing items, and displays features from local artists! They host so many cool events, including Shop & Adopt featuring adoptable kittens, and offer private shopping experiences. Please stop by the store and follow them on Instagram to be in the loop for all the upcoming events! I'll be at the August Ballard ArtWalk as Thread Hunter's featured artist as well!
Elissa was the first person I reached out to when I started planning my Wuthering Heights Themed Creative Photoshoot, and as always, Thread Hunter delivered with the perfect Red Skirt, Black Lace Dress, and an amazing Corset that I used for that shoot. While picking those up, I told Elissa about an idea that I had for an Old Hollywood Themed Creative Photoshoot, and I thought it would be the perfect theme to go with the Speak Easy. She was on board, and we started planning right away!
The first person I reached out to was Miracle, who I'd photographed before (see her shoot here), and I was thrilled that she was available and interested! I found our other gorgeous model, Nykole, in a local photographer-model Facebook group. Both Miracle and Nykole brought such a wonderful dynamic to the shoot and really embodied the Old Hollywood mood and drama. Elissa pulled the most amazing pieces from the store that matched the theme, including some gorgeous vintage fur coats. I brought a few accessories and jewelry from my Studio as well, and even my own wedding earrings, because they just fit the theme TOO well.
I hope you enjoy the images as much as we enjoyed making them! I just love how it all came together, and the Speak Easy was the PERFECT location. We'll be printing some of these images to be displayed in the store as well, so keep an eye out in the coming weeks to see them in person! All the pieces that Elissa pulled were perfection, and some of them may even still be available in the store, so make sure to drop by Thread Hunter if you see anything you just have to have! I guarantee you'll find something you love!
Which ones are your favorites? Would you want to incorporate an Old Hollywood look into your own photoshoot? I'd love to incorporate this lighting style into more client shoots, so let me know when you book your consultation!
